Jefferson serves on the Howard Community College Educational Foundation Board (2005- Present) and is past Chair of the Grand Prix Board.
He is a past member ('02-'07) of the University of Maryland Terrapin Club Board of Directors, chairing the Member Outreach Committee in his final year. He remains active as a Terrapin Club Agent.
He is active in the Baltimore Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow.
Member of the Class of 1997 for Leadership Howard County. Currently Class Rep for '97.

- Alan Jefferson is one of the 3 remaining "Charter" Members of the Rotary Club of Columbia/Patuxent. The Club began meeting provisionally in 1985 before receiving a charter in February, 1986.
AJ was the original Club Service Director, and has held positions as Secretary, Sgt/Arms, Vocational Director, Newsletter Director and Program Director (current). He has been the coordinator of the Club's SuperPool for each of the 12 years of the fund raiser.
He is a 2-Time Club Rotarian of the Year, and is a Paul Harris Plus 3 Member.
