The Community Service Above Self Award recognizes a non-Rotarian who, through their service to the community, exemplifies the values of Rotary International. Rotary’s main objective is service – in the community, in the workplace, and around the globe. The 1.2 million Rotarians who make up more than 34,000 Rotary Clubs in nearly every country in the world share a dedication to the ideal of Service Above Self. The Rotary Club of Columbia Patuxent established this award in 2012 to recognize an individual who embodies Service Above Self while making a significant contribution to the community AND demonstrating our Club’s spirit: Lead. Do Good. Have fun.
Any individual may nominate an individual (or him/herself) for this award. Nominees must be 18 years or older, and must work and/or live in Howard County. Rotarians may nominate, but they may not be nominees, because being a Rotarian is reward enough!
The award recognizes a single individual who, on the date of nomination, is a non-Rotarian who embodies Service Above Self in a way that has a significant impact on our community and exemplifies our Club’s spirit of Lead. Do Good. Have Fun. We’re looking for that special individual who gives back with pizazz, and has a great time doing it!
Any individual may complete the application and send it to The Rotary Club of Columbia Patuxent by
close of business on May 1, 2016. We take fun, and this deadline, seriously.
Submit one electronic application to email@example.com. You will receive a confirmation email indicating receipt of your application. In addition to the completed nomination form, we strongly encourage you to include one letter of recommendation from someone other than the nominator, especially if you’re nominating yourself.
If you are the honored recipient, you’ll be notified by June 1, 2016. You will receive the esteem of your peers, and instant elevation of your standing in the community! You’ll also be recognized at our Club’s Annual Grant Day Event on Friday, June 17, 2016. You will also receive four (4) complimentary tickets to that event (because you shouldn’t have to buy a ticket to your own party).
In honor of your community service, the Rotary Club of Columbia Patuxent Charitable Trust will make a $3,500 contribution to a Howard County-based nonprofit organization of your choosing. (The organization must meet the criteria as documented in the Charitable Trust’s Procedures as of July 1 of the Award Year. See www.columbiarotary.com - Charitable Trust and scroll down for Procedures for the Rotary Trust for all the fine print. )
